    {Economic: Al Furat News} The head of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, called the Ministry of Agriculture's policy "failed", while confirming the continued smuggling of Iraqi wheat abroad.

    Al-Zuhairi said; For the "State Dialogue" program broadcast by Al-Furat satellite channel tonight, "the high prices of five foodstuffs classified globally, including flour, as a result of its decline in wheat-producing countries."
    He attributed the rise in prices to "the entry of some foodstuffs for energy production, such as corn and others, and the difference in transportation after the outbreak of the Corona virus, in addition to the storage of basic materials in some countries, as well as the rise in the dollar exchange rate in conjunction with the rise in commodities globally."
    Al-Zuhairi added, "Everyone is aware of wrong decisions taken by the competent authorities, especially in banning some substances such as eggs and chicken, and they were not previously studied."
    He stressed, "The policy of the Ministry of Agriculture was a failure and not based on correct foundations, and 30% of farmers did not market their crop to the state, and animal breeders used flour as feed instead of bran." 
    Al-Zuhairi pointed out, "The weakness of the decision and communication with private sector institutions and their involvement in the decision led to the current situation," calling on the state to "lift its hand from the flour sector and allow traders to import wheat and bran as animal feed and pump the largest number of ration card materials to the local market."
    He continued, "Iraqi wheat is subjected to continuous smuggling to neighboring countries, and Iraq is on the verge of a lack of rain and a shortage of agriculture, and the Ministry of Agriculture has announced the implementation of 50% of the winter plan, and the need confirms that it must be accompanied by an import process."
    Al-Zuhairi noted "the necessity of taking bold and quick decisions to import wheat, since most of the decisions taken are based on mood and not experience," adding, "We suffer from drawing up the country's economic policy. The Ministry of Agriculture has banned the import of marine fish for unknown reasons." 
    Al-Zuhairi concluded, "Most of the traders incurred great losses as a result of raising the exchange rate and returning the exchange to its previous era would be a new disaster, and there are 5 million generators in Iraq that cause great pollution and the economic decision-makers are in one valley and people are in another."
