Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh affirmed on Sunday the Kingdom's keenness to strengthen economic and banking cooperation with Iraq.
The official Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported that “Al-Khasawneh received in his office in the Prime Minister’s House on Sunday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank, Adel Sharkas.”
During the meeting, Al-Khasawneh renewed his “condolences to the brothers in the Republic of Iraq, for the victims of the fire that occurred in one of the wedding halls in Nineveh Governorate, calling on God Almighty to cover them with His vast mercy, and to grant the injured a speedy recovery.”
He stressed “the keenness to strengthen cooperation between the two brotherly countries, especially in the economic and banking aspects.” Praising “the level of cooperation and relations between the Central Bank of Jordan and its Iraqi counterpart, and the two banking systems in the two brotherly countries, which are distinguished, complementary and flexible relations, and are characterized by the highest governance controls, in a way that serves their common interests.”
He referred to his visit to Iraq about two months ago, and his meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and senior Iraqi officials, where it was agreed to enhance ways of cooperation between the two brotherly countries in various fields, whether at the bilateral level, or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism that brings together Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, through which we look forward to implementing major projects that will benefit the three countries.”
In turn, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq extended “thanks to Jordan for its sincere positions and solidarity with the Republic of Iraq as a result of the recent fire incident,” stressing that “these positions stem from the close interdependence and distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields.”
Al-Alaq stressed that “the relationship between the Central Bank of Iraq and its Jordanian counterpart is very distinguished, and reflects the close ties between the two brotherly countries in various fields,” pointing out that “the Central Bank of Iraq does not hesitate to seek advice and seek assistance from Jordanian competencies and expertise, whether from the banking sector or the Central Bank of Jordan.” “It has made great strides in developing its policies, keeping pace with changes, and strengthening the capabilities of young people in the field of management.”
