Minister of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities Ann Nafie Osei held a meeting with the committee concerned with the investment of Highway No. 1 or the so-called international highway linking Iraq, Jordan and Syria.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Al-Oussi at the Ministry's headquarters, in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the representatives of the Ministry of Interior, Planning and Investment Authority.
The minister said in a press statement that "the committee is facing a major national task in choosing the executing agency that will invest the road and manage and operate the Tarbil border crossing, which requires our accuracy and speed to complete it."
She added that "on the basis of our mandate under the chairmanship of the committee specialized in preparing the investment contract for the rehabilitation and securing of the highway through the Diwani Order issued by the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers has been discussed the requirements of the paragraphs of the contract to invest and secure the international road link between Baghdad and the Jordanian border of technical, .
The minister explained that "the investor company will rehabilitate the road and bridges maintained and maintained on an ongoing basis and repair the losses and lighting and the establishment of stations and parking spaces for wheels and maintenance workshops for vehicles passing by and fuel stations, as well as the construction of the fence on both sides of the road to ensure that the crossing of animals and vehicles Which is contrary to the traffic system and causes accidents. As for the security aspect, the investor will take care of the two sides of the road at a depth of five kilometers from each side. "
"The above measures will be carried out under the supervision of the competent committee of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities in the technical side and the Ministry of Defense and Interior in the security and traffic aspects," she said, stressing that this project will constitute an important shift in the field of activating trade exchange between Iraq and the countries of the world, The road to goods and passengers via the international road link with Jordan and Syria. "
