WASHINGTON, Feb 10 (Reuters) - The United States announced on Saturday new sanctions targeting a number of groups supporting a worldwide jihadist organization, currently on the US black list of terrorists.
Treasury sanctions target 3 people and 3 companies.The ministry said in a statement that they were "assisting (the activities) of a sympathetic organization in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa."
"The administration is determined to triumph over a sympathetic organization wherever it is, by deducting its illegal income," the ministry's counterterrorism and financial intelligence chief Sigal Mandler said in a statement.
"Every target person or entity has contributed to the terror of a sympathetic organization in his region of the world."
The first target of the sanctions is Scalon Abu Bakr, whom Washington regards as a "key contributor to the organization and network in the Philippines since at least January 2016" and accused of providing money, weapons and equipment to the organization.
Yunis Emre Skarya and his Turkish-based specialist company, "Professionneller Electronic," were also charged with logistical support for the organization.
The sanctions included Mohammad Mir Ali Yufus, his two companies, Al Aiban Trading and the Muqawam Commercial Company in Somalia, for supporting groups affiliated with a sympathetic organization in the African country.
It was decided to freeze the property and interests of these individuals and companies in the United States and to prevent US nationals from doing any transactions with them. Finished
