Jordan's King Abdullah II shook hands with Iranian President Hassan Rowhani during a summit of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Istanbul on Friday, a Jordanian official said.
The source said that "His Majesty the King and the Iranian President exchanged peace during their departure from the conference hall held by Turkey."
The two countries have not met for 15 years, due to differences between the two countries, where Jordan supported the government of Saddam Hussein in the war between Iraq and Iran (1980-1988). In recent years, Iran has criticized Oman's support for the opposition Armed forces in Syria, while King Abdullah accused Tehran of interfering in the affairs of the countries of the region.
