    BAGHDAD (Reuters) - 
    US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed on Saturday US support for the Iraqi government and its foreign policy, while Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries and deepening economic ties. 
    The media office of the Prime Minister, in a statement received / Mawazine News / copy, that "Abdul-Mahdi, received a phone call from US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo." 
    "The importance of strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries and deepening economic relations and the desire of Iraq to transfer technology and expertise to the US to Iraq and create jobs in Iraq and the development of vital sectors." 
    He stressed, "the importance of strengthening the efforts of the parties to resolve the final negotiations and the signing of the (one package) with Exxon Mobil US to develop the Iraqi energy sector."
    "The United States supports the Iraqi government and its foreign policy," Pompeo said. 
    The Prime Minister reviewed "the results of his European tour and other important files of mutual interest"

    The Iraqi government announced on Saturday that its president Adel Abdul Mahdi received a phone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
    "Abdul Mahdi stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two friendly countries and deepening economic relations and Iraq's desire to transfer technology and US expertise to Iraq and create job opportunities inside Iraq and develop vital sectors in it," a government statement said.
    The statement added that Abdul Mahdi "stressed the importance of strengthening the efforts of the parties to resolve the final negotiations and the signing of the" one package "with the US company ExxonMobil to develop the Iraqi energy sector.
    "The United States supports the Iraqi government and its foreign policy, and welcomes Iraq's role and its great position in the region and the promotion of economic, political and cultural cooperation between the two countries," the statement said.
