There have been numerous criticisms and complaints regarding the Internet service for more than a month, which has led to great confusion in public life, especially since it has become one of the basics of life for government and private work.
Member of the Parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee, Faten Al-Qara Ghouli, told Al-Sabah: The House of Representatives hosted the Minister of Communications, Hiam Al-Yasiri, to ask a number of questions, the most prominent of which was related to the recent deterioration of Internet services. She added that Al-Yasiri explained a number of reasons related to poor service, most notably the monopoly of some local companies on the service, and preventing other companies from entering the competition path. For his part, expert in the field of communications, Ammar Al-Ithawi, explained to “Al-Sabah” that the current decline in the quality of the Internet is the result of a defect in the ministry’s management, indicating that two years ago Iraq was ranked 40th in the world, while it has now fallen to 128th place in the world. He pointed out that the reason lies in mismanagement and lack of clarity of vision in the projects, to the point that we have not witnessed any achievement yet, noting that the subsidized Internet failed due to the lack of a well-thought-out plan for it, as well as the satellite Internet.
He added that the interruption of the Internet in the morning affects the service for the rest of the day because most of the Internet in Iraq depends on the cache server, in addition to that the interruption of the Internet for five hours leads to emptying the existing content, and upon its return the process will begin again, as it was noted that it takes 12 hours to fill it again. .
