Relentless efforts were made to discourage the “Democrat” from withdrawing from the regional elections

Serious dialogues are active between political leaders to dissuade the Kurdistan Democratic Party from its decision not to participate in the regional parliament elections and its threat to leave the political process.
These efforts are trying to improve the atmosphere between Baghdad and Erbil and resolve some of the disputed problems in order to move the political process in Iraq forward and not complicate it. Representative Karwan Ali, in an interview with Al-Sabah, called for resolving the crisis through dialogue, warning that postponing the region’s elections would lead to “catastrophic results,” as he put it. He explained that the Kurdistan region needs elections after its parliament was dissolved by a decision of the Federal Court, which led to a legal and constitutional vacuum, noting that the political process in the region is at a standstill and there is no movement or initiative.
Ali believed that the boycott of the Democratic Party could be resolved through negotiations within the Kurdish House, and warned that delaying the elections would reflect negatively on the situation in the region, expressing his support for holding the elections on time with everyone’s participation in them. He pointed out that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is a basic party, and without it the elections will not be held, because the region is actually divided into 4 electoral districts, stressing that we have experiences with these problems. For his part, the Kurdish writer and journalist, Haval Suleiman, believes that the boycott of the Democratic Party is a political attempt to exert pressure, due to its objection to the decisions of the Federal Court regarding quota seats, even though it has existed since the beginning of the democratic process in the region. According to his expression. Suleiman warned of the perception that these elections would not be “fair” if supervised by the Federal Election Commission.
He added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that after the dissolution of the regional parliament, all its decisions were cancelled, including the formation of the regional commission, stressing that the absence of the Democratic Party from the political scene in the region will have a great impact because it has great political weight in Erbil and Baghdad.
