    Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki Iraq's full readiness to prop up and support the efforts of UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, in order to reach a political solution that satisfies all the Syrians and achieve peace in the region.


    Brahimi's visit to Baghdad as a second stop in his regional tour after Cairo where he held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby to discuss the peace conference on Syria Geneva (2), to be held next month.


    A statement by the Prime Minister's Office received «morning» copy of it, that «Maliki discussed during his meeting yesterday, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Lakhdar Brahimi, the Syrian crisis and the importance of holding a conference Geneva (2)».


    Maliki stressed during the meeting that a political solution to the Syrian crisis, would by side of the Syrian people brotherly more tragedies and pains, adding that the arrival of military options to a standstill and the growing conviction the need to reach a political solution to the crisis, making the chances of the solution and the potential for success of peace initiatives more palatable.

    Brahimi pointed out the importance of supporting and entrusting Iraq to a peaceful solution and efforts to encourage all parties, including the Syrian regime to make concessions to the solution, adding that a political solution represents the interests of all parties.


    The Foreign Ministry said in a statement received «morning» copy of it yesterday, Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari met with UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi at the airport in Baghdad yesterday, and discussed with him the developments in the Syrian crisis and the numbers of the Conference (Geneva, 2).
