U.S. official: Delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Iraq goes as planned in the autumn
08:42:30 / 10/2013Khandan - A senior official in the U.S. administration, the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Iraq goes as planned in the autumn and that Iraq recently filed installments of about $ 650 million on aircraft.
The official said in remarks quoted by the agency "Reuters", on condition of anonymity, "This program generally proceed as planned, and certainly no obstacles on the road as is the case with anything of this complexity, but their pilots are trained and the program goes forward."
The official added that "the issue of F-16s did not come up during a meeting between Maliki and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
Iraq concluded a new contract last year to buy his second collection of F-16 fighter jets, which includes 18 aircraft from the United States as part of a deal to buy 36 fighter of this class to rebuild his air weapon.
