Iran announces reopening border crossing with Iraq
DAMASCUS - Iran's governor, Qassim Soleimani Dashtaki, announced Tuesday that the Mehran border crossing with Iraq would be reopened in front of truck crossings as part of a successful agreement reached last week by the Iraqi governor of Wasit.
"The visit of the Governor of Wasit to Ilam has resulted in excellent achievements, including the return of the Mehran crossing to the trucks and the formation of a joint Iranian-Iraqi committee to deal with the border issues," Dashtaki said in a statement.
He added that the visit resulted in "the reform and unification of tariffs at all crossings of the country, and the allocation of credit for the infrastructure projects of the Iraqi Shihabi crossing adjacent to the" Jnkula "in western Iran.
