{Baghdad: Al-Furat News} The Ministry of Transport, on Sunday, the preparation of an integrated design of an economic city within the lawmaker of the port of Faw.
"Minister of Transport Abdullah Luaibi on Sunday chaired an expanded meeting with the ministries of the state and the concerned authorities to prepare the basic design of the port city of FAO in the presence of the Italian consultant Alberto Scotti on the central hall of the Ministry of Transport," the ministry said in a statement.
"We discussed the design of the integrated city project at the port of Faw, which includes the design of a commercial, industrial and residential area," he said.
"The project includes a water treatment plant, an electricity station and an advanced naval base, pointing out a link between the port of Faw and Safwan, including the construction of the Khor al-Zubayr tunnel, as well as establishing a system for internal railway lines and linking them with the national system.
He added that "the Ministry of Transport contracted in advance with the Italian consulting company Technal for the preparation of Master Plan for the region includes the distribution of spaces in a way to ensure the optimal use of land to overcome slums in the implementation of projects."
The Minister of Transport said that "a two-week period has been set for obtaining the approval of the institutions and ministries of the state on the sites selected for the project."
