Chinese company wins $ 121 million contract in Basra

The China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Company has won an engineering contract worth $ 121 million to upgrade facilities used to extract gas during oil production at the West Qurna-1 oil field in Basra.
The project, scheduled to be completed within 27 months, aims to boost crude oil production capacity in the oil field, according to a statement from the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the parent company of China Petroleum Engineering and Construction.
Iraq's West Qurna-1 oilfield, developed by Exxon Mobil, produces 480,000 barrels of crude oil a day.
