Today, Thursday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee confirmed that there are no disputes that impede the completion of naming the parliamentary committee presidencies, and while it indicated that the mechanism for resolving it will take place according to the electoral entitlement, it confirmed that the 2023 budget has not yet reached the House of Representatives.
A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Salem Al-Anbuge, said, "It was agreed that the distribution of parliamentary committee chairs would take place according to the weights of the electoral blocs, which was approved in the cabinet as well."
He added, "The fact that the blocs did not reach an agreement on naming committee chairmen before the legislative recess comes is mainly due to the lack of serious discussions among them, and we expect them to be resolved at the beginning of the second legislative term."
He continued, "There are no problems between the blocs regarding the presidencies of the committees, and the issue will take place in negotiations and agreements to resolve it in 25 committees, and we believe that the chances of independents in presiding over some committees are few, and there are emerging forces that entered the parliamentary blocs, and we expect them to take their due."
He pointed out that "this does not mean that political understandings allow independents to head some committees."
And about the 2023 budget, Al-Anbuge confirmed, "The draft budget has not yet been sent by the government, and we believe that there are deliberations in it about the exchange rate and a barrel of oil that need some time, and we call on it to expedite sending it to start discussing it, and it will take time, and we expect it to extend to a vote on it next April."
