    Twenty years after the invasion, a group of military leaders and experts revealed the US policy in Iraq, stressing that "the US army will not withdraw from Iraq completely."

    The former American commander also confirmed that "the presence of US forces in Iraq represents a security cover for the Baghdad government," noting that "these forces are there to protect the Iraqi government mainly and do not provide any security service to Washington, and that their presence will continue given Baghdad's need for them," according to his saying. . 
    As for the Director of the Defense Department at the Heritage Research Center, Thomas Sfuher, he confirmed to the newspaper, “The details that appeared in the US budget for the year 2024 clearly show that the US forces intend to stay in Iraq despite the security threat posed by China and Washington’s tendency to confront it.” increasingly at the expense of its interest in the Middle East file.
