A member of the Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Representative Ali Shaddad, revealed today, Tuesday, that a contract will be signed with the French company Total to invest gas in a group of oil fields in Basra Governorate.
A member of the committee said in a statement received (Baghdad Today): "The Ministry of Oil will sign, two weeks from now, a contract with the French company Total to invest (600) cubic meters of associated gas in five oil fields in Basra Governorate."
French oil company Total Energy has already reached an agreement with the Iraqi government on projects worth $10 billion, reviving a long-delayed deal to attract foreign investment into the country by improving Iraq's electricity supply, including restoring flared gas at three oil fields, or What is known as flare gas, to supply power plants.
