    Today, Monday, the Ministry of Agriculture announced a project worth 5 billion dinars to address the rise in meat prices, while confirming that prices are currently witnessing great stability and heading toward decline.
    The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Mahdi Sahar, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), followed by “Al-Iqtisad News”: “The local markets for red meat production have recently witnessed an increase in prices, as the matter required taking measures by the Ministry of Agriculture to support livestock breeders and also monitor the markets and their prices.” Through the Price Control Department in the Ministry and the veterinary departments and veterinary centers located throughout the governorates of Iraq, to ​​control random slaughter and hold those who are negligent accountable to avoid the transmission of epidemics and diseases to humans.”
    Sahar added, “The Ministry of Agriculture currently has a project worth 5 billion dinars, as the project included the distribution of feed among livestock breeders in the southern governorates, and a contract was also made with the Ministry of Commerce to purchase all the bran feed available in the Ministry and distribute it among livestock breeders by submitting applications.” Directly to the agricultural directorates, conducting checks on the livestock of each breeder, and giving him a supply letter to the mills located throughout the governorates of Iraq to receive the feed at very reasonable prices and lower than the prices found in the markets, as the existing production costs will be reduced and the cost of producing feed will be reduced, and thus it will reflect positively on reducing meat prices. In a large percent".
    He pointed out that "the import of red meat has been opened from all countries of the world except for countries witnessing epidemics and infections through animal reports from the World Health Organization, as those countries are excluded from imports."
    He stressed that "meat prices are currently witnessing great stability and a decline as a result of the government support that will be provided to livestock breeders."
