    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Monday (October 2, 2023), a Kurdish security source revealed the reason for the visit of the Iraqi security delegation headed by National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji and representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government to Iran.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The visit came in order to deliver to Tehran the final joint report to Baghdad and Erbil regarding the headquarters of the Iranian Kurdish opposition parties present in the region."
He added, "The visit also comes to discuss the position of Baghdad and Erbil regarding the implementation of the security agreement with Iran regarding these groups and the extent of their implementation of the terms of the agreement."
Yesterday, Sunday (October 1, 2023), the Iraqi National Security Advisory announced that the National Security Advisor, Qasim Al-Araji, headed today to the Iranian capital, Tehran, accompanied by a security delegation.
A statement from Al-Araji’s office, carried by “Baghdad Today,” stated that “the latter headed to Tehran at the head of a security delegation to complete the implementation of the security agreement between Iraq and Iran, under the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.”

On the same level, a security source announced that the Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Reber Ahmed, and a group of Iraqi security and government officials accompanied Al-Araji to Tehran.
It is noteworthy that Iran has threatened several times before that if the forces of the Iranian Kurdish parties are not “disarmed” and transferred from areas near Iran’s borders, it will attack the Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Tehran and Baghdad signed an agreement within a period of 6 months in Baghdad on March 19, 2023, in a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani.
In this context, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein traveled to Tehran on September 13, and said during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart that the Kurdish parties based in the Kurdistan region would be transferred to a refugee “camp” under the supervision of the United Nations.
At the same time, Fouad Hussein stressed that "the literature of threats of bombing and military attack" should not be used to resolve issues between the two countries. He added: "We need a guarantee from Iran that it will not use the language of attack and violence."
Four days after this meeting, Kurdish sources announced the completion of the transfer of Kurdish groups opposed to the Iranian regime from areas near the Iranian border in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
