    {Politics: Al-Furat News} A member of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee accused the United States of dealing with Iraq as if it were an "occupied country."
    Committee member Haider Al-Salami told Al-Furat News Agency: “America’s attack on the Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf Al-Nasr is a violation of sovereignty, is unacceptable, and requires the government to take an urgent and firm stance towards it.”
    He added, "The American presence in Iraq is supposed to be at the level of advisors and training only. We do not know how it is possible for planes to launch bombing inside Iraq. This indicates that the Americans are dealing with Iraq as an occupied country and it is their colonizer. This is unacceptable and we denounce it."
    Al-Salami continued, "We called on the government to take serious steps to stop repeated operations to violate sovereignty."
    Last Wednesday, American aircraft bombed two Popular Mobilization Forces positions in Jurf al-Nasr district, north of Babylon, killing 8 fighters and wounding 4 others. 
    The Iraqi government "strongly condemned the attack that targeted the Jurf al-Nasr area" and said that it "took place without the knowledge of the Iraqi government authorities, which is considered a clear violation of sovereignty and an attempt to disrupt the stable internal security situation."
    The government stressed that “any armed action or activity committed outside the military institution is considered a condemnable act and an outlaw activity that exposes the supreme national interest to danger, and that any armed elements or others who do not adhere to this principle are working against the supreme national interest, and will take action.” The government takes the necessary measures to defend Iraq's supreme interests."
