On Saturday, the Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee called on the Council of Ministers to expedite sending the draft abuses law to Parliament in order to proceed with its legislation.
Committee member Hussein Habib said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The problem of slums and agricultural neighborhoods needs decisions and instructions in order to address the slum crisis.”
He added that “ownership of encroachers as well as agricultural lands for their occupants has become an urgent necessity in order to rehabilitate and reconstruct these areas again and provide them with the best services.”
He pointed out that “legislating the slum law as a solution to the housing crisis that the country is suffering from as a result of the increase in housing units,” stressing the necessity of “ Sending a draft law on ownership of encroachments and agricultural lands to Parliament in order to proceed with its legislation.
A member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Haider Ali Sheikhan, had confirmed in a previous interview with the Maalouma Agency that addressing residential encroachments on lands owned by the state or municipalities within the limits of the basic designs is an important law. Ended / 25 h
