    Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, on Thursday, urged European countries to cooperate with Iraq in ending the Al-Hawl camp file and returning its citizens, while stressing that the security conditions in Iraq had become qualified to end the role of the international coalition.
    Al-Sudani’s office said in a statement, received by Al-Maalomah, that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the sidelines of his participation in the Davos Forum held in Switzerland,” noting that “the meeting witnessed a review of Iraqi-European relations.” And its development paths, as well as examining the international situation in the Middle East region, and developments in the events in the Gaza Strip.”
    He added, "The future role of the international coalition to fight ISIS in Iraq was discussed, as Al-Sudani pointed out that the Iraqi armed forces, with all their types, were able to establish security and cut off the roots of terrorism, and the conditions have become suitable for ending the role of the coalition and moving to bilateral security coordination relations between Iraq and friendly countries." ".
    Al-Sudani stated, according to the statement, “the importance of European countries taking responsible steps, cooperating with Iraq in ending the Al-Hawl camp file, and handing over their citizens and bearing the security responsibility related to them.”
    Regarding the war on Gaza, the Prime Minister reaffirmed “Iraq’s position and its view of the dangers of continued aggression against the Palestinians,” noting that “the overall stability of the region depends on stopping the war, which may expand and lead to a comprehensive security deterioration, especially since the peoples of the region feel angry about the aggression and genocide.” mass crimes committed in Gaza.”
    For her part, von der Leyen expressed her "appreciation of Iraq's positions regarding developments in the situation in Gaza, and the Iraqi government's efforts to contain the repercussions," stressing "the Commission's concern about the expanding conflict, and its determination to continue providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinians."
    She welcomed "the efforts seeking to strengthen relations of cooperation and partnership between Iraq and the European Union," stressing "continuation in the field of expanding investments and the participation of European companies and institutions in the ongoing strategic development projects in Iraq."
