Advisor to the Prime Minister for Transport Affairs, Nasser Saleh Al-Asadi, confirmed today, Saturday, that huge international companies have expressed a desire to implement the Baghdad Metro and the Holy Karbala-Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf Expressway projects.
Al-Asadi said, “The Baghdad Metro projects and the Holy Karbala-Al-Najaf Express Train projects have been put forward for investment, and investors will apply, and every investor will offer his services,” pointing out that “on 2/12/2024, the announcement will begin, and every investor will present the companies within his alliance.” The coalition that will win will then be announced,” according to the official agency.
He added, "Many large international companies have contacted the Prime Minister, including Spanish, Italian, Qatari, Emirati, Chinese, Japanese, and others," noting that "the time limit for bringing the two projects into service will be determined after appointing the investor and negotiating with him, but that will be very soon."
He pointed out that "many projects will solve transportation problems in Baghdad and the provinces, and raise Iraq's transportation sector to advanced levels, such as (tram) projects, airports, integrated transportation projects, and activating public transportation."
Yesterday, Thursday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced the launch of investment opportunities for the Baghdad Metro project and the Karbala-Najaf train project.
