    Information / Report:
For example, the decision of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, headed by Masoud Barzani, to boycott the region’s elections and threaten to withdraw from the political process was surprising to all players in the political community. Its decision to withdraw from boycotting the elections was also surprising, especially since it came one day after the decision to boycott the elections.

The party's political office announced - in a statement - that it will not participate in these elections, claiming that they are being conducted according to a law imposed by Baghdad that prevents the judicial authorities in the Kurdistan region from supervising them, which violates the Iraqi constitution.
This decision came after the court settled the dispute by canceling the 11 quota seats and holding elections in multiple districts instead of one district, under the supervision of Baghdad.
The Kurdistan Democratic Party considered the court's recent decisions an extension of its series of unconstitutional decisions against the region during the past four years, "and public opinion has been warned of that." He considered it a flagrant and dangerous violation of the constitution, an abortion of the democratic system in the region, and an attempt to return Iraq to a centralized system of government, criticizing the structure of the Federal Court in its current form, according to the same statement.
The Coordinating Framework Party, the main partner in the formation of the current Iraqi government, threatened to withdraw from the political process in Baghdad, as it is a party to it.

But after only one day, the Democratic Party withdrew from boycotting the elections, but claimed that it did not want to boycott the elections, but rather wanted fair elections!
This came during Barzani's meeting with the American ambassador, who apparently forced Barzani to back down from boycotting the elections.
In the meeting, Barzani referred to the reasons for the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s statement, and explained that the party took the initiative to hold elections since the beginning of the nineties, and has always supported holding elections. He is not afraid of elections, but he has comments on the mechanism for holding them and the danger of undermining the principles of coexistence and eliminating the participation of sects in political life. .
Barzani said that the elections were postponed for two years for various reasons, and foreign hands interfered in the matter and reduced the value and status of the region. They also changed the decisions and laws of the Kurdistan Region in an unconstitutional and illegal manner.
Barzani stressed that the Democratic Party did not boycott the elections, but was in favor of holding fair, transparent, and secure elections free of foreign interference and prior programs, and that voters were not deprived of voting and that the value of the democratic process was not diminished.

In his speech during the meeting, Barzani referred to the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and said that there was a clear and comprehensive agreement with the coordination framework under the name of the State Administration Coalition, which unfortunately none of the important points in the agreement were implemented.
He stated that the agreement was intended to achieve stability, prosperity, and the principles of partnership, balance, and consensus, but none of that was achieved.
Political observer Sabah Al-Ukaili commented on this issue and said, “Bazrani’s retreat from boycotting the elections came under pressure from the American ambassador.
Al-Aqili told Al-Maalouma, “The immediate retreat, within hours of the announcement by the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, to boycott the Kurdistan region’s elections and his threat to withdraw from the political process came after a meeting he held with the US Ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski.”

He added, "Barzani and his party are still prisoners of the American administration's decisions," noting that "the decision was taken by Barzani because he sensed the seriousness of the upcoming elections and the possibility of ending his party's presence in the regional parliament."
Al-Ugaili explained that "the upcoming elections will give the Democratic Party its position and real weight in the regional parliament, as well as the rest of the Kurdistan parties breathing in the true democracy that the Democratic Party suppressed in all the past elections." Ended / 25 AD.
