Pentagon plans to send "paratroopers" to fight Saddam in Iraq and Syria
WASHINGTON, March 27 (UPI) - The Pentagon plans to send additional troops to the Middle East in response to a request from the International Coalition leadership against Saddam in Baghdad.
"The Pentagon will send 200 paratroopers from Unit 82. The Pentagon did not say whether they would be stationed in Iraq or Syria," Fox News reported.
According to the US Department of Defense, "the decision to send them to Syria or Iraq will be taken by the commander of the international coalition forces in Iraq, Stephen Townsend."
The United States has deployed about 400 additional troops in Syria, and has deployed military forces in Iraq to help fight the Da'ash. Finished
