    A member of the parliamentary oil and energy committee, Jamal al-Muhammadawi, signed 50 signatures to fill the legislative vacuum in the civil service law, which affected more than 5000 employees in the South Gas Company after being loaned to the Gas Company of Basra.
    "We have collected the signatures of 50 deputies to solve the problem of employees of the Basrah Gas Company and amend Article 38 of the Civil Service Law," Al-Mahmoudawi said in a press release.
    He added that "the new amendment to Article 38 of the Civil Service Law provides for the repeal of the provisions of this article and replaces it, authorizes the competent minister or the head of the entity not affiliated with the ministry or the governor to approve the loan of the employee services to the private or mixed sectors for a period not exceeding (5) Renewable for one time ".
    "The proposed amendment also provides for the exception of the provisions of the first item of this article / the Minister of Oil may lend the services of employees working in public companies of the Ministry of Oil to companies invested in the oil sector for the duration of the contract concluded between them and the ministry.
    He pointed out that the amendment calculates the period of loan service for the purposes of premium and promotion and retirement.
    He stressed the need to "fill the legislative vacuum to adapt to the interests of employees and justice for this productive group in Iraq."
    "The amendment was referred by the Presidency of the House of Representatives to the Finance Committee to do the necessary."
    Basrah Gas Company was established in May 2013, and the company consisted of South Gas Company with 51% participation shares, and the contribution of Dutch Shell and Mitsubishi by 49%.
    More than 5,500 employees, most of them Iraqis, work for Basrah Gas Company, many of whom have years of vast experience gained from working with the South Gas Company before transferring responsibility to Basrah Gas Company at the time of its establishment.
