US envoy to the United Nations, Nikki Healy, stressed that Russia will never be friendly to her country.
The US newspaper The Hill reported on Tuesday that despite this, Healy has played down concerns about US President Donald Trump's meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and held a joint press conference with him last week.
"We do not trust Russia, we do not trust Putin, we will never trust, we will never be our friends," said Healy.
"But what I think is that whether the president sits with North Korean leader Kim or sits down with Putin, these are things that have to happen," the Trump and Putin summit in Finland last week described as "long overdue."
