Basra MP al-Musawi al-Moussawi returned on Saturday the decision of the United States to withdraw consular officials in the province "American blackmail", pointing out that the US plots against Iraq will not stop.
"The decision of the US administration to withdraw its consular staff from the province is not regrettable because it is a new blackmail from the blackmail of the United States," Moussawi said. "This will not push the Iraqi people to succumb to these threats and blackmail."
She added that "the conspiracy committed by America against the Iraqi people will not stop," pointing out that "American blackmail will not dissuade the Iraqis as people and politicians from addressing US interventions in the affairs of the government."
The US State Department announced late on Friday the withdrawal of consular staff in the province of Basra and ask its citizens in Baghdad to leave within 24 hours. Ending / 25 h

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq's Foreign Ministry said on Saturday it regretted US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's decision to withdraw US consular staff in Basra and warn US citizens not to travel to Iraq.
"His ministry deplores the decision of the US secretary of state to withdraw US consular staff in Basra and warn US citizens not to travel to Iraq," ministry spokesman Ahmed Mahjoub said in a statement.
"Iraq is committed to protecting foreign diplomatic missions residing in its territory and securing them," Mahjoub said. "The Iraqi government is determined to face any threats against diplomatic missions or any foreign visitor as part of Iraq's security and legal and moral obligation."
"The diplomatic missions should not pay attention to what is being promoted to disturb the atmosphere of security, stability and harm to Iraq's relations with the countries of the world," the spokesman said.Ending / 25
