Iraqi parliament decides: Excluding us from the import of Iranian gas and electricity "permanent"

The United States' exclusion of the country from the import of gas and electricity from Iran is "permanent," the Iraqi parliament's Economics and Investment Committee said on Tuesday.
"Iraq will be forced to give Iraq an exemption from the import of gas and electricity from Iran, provided that Iraq works to produce its gas and electrification," said member of the committee Abdullah al-Kharbit told Asharq Al-Awsat. "Iraq has contracted with companies to produce gas and electricity, As long as Iraq has taken this measure, the US administration is waiting for the country to stand on his feet. "
"If Iraq has not already signed contracts with companies for this purpose, America will say you are working for Iran, and Iraq's exception is not extended," he said.
"This exception is permanent as long as there is action by Iraq on the ground, and this America can not be covered by sanctions, and will continue to extend the exception permanently," Khreibt said.
The United States is pressing Iraq to stop purchases of gas and electricity from Iran, which provides a large share of Iraq's energy needs. These pressures come at a time when Baghdad received an exemption from Washington from its sanctions on Tehran, which President Donald Trump imposed after the withdrawal from the agreement Nuclear deal with Iran.
