     Baghdad: Batoul Al-Hasani

Iraq is moving to increase the depths of its territorial waters and shipping channels in order to attract ships and supertankers to the ports.
Farhan Al-Fartousi, Director General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, affiliated with the Ministry of Transport, said: "The company adopts increasing the design depths of the berths and navigation channels in the ports, as well as improving the depths of the Iraqi territorial waters in an effort to attract the largest ships and marine tankers, as a contribution to activating the commercial attraction of the country's ports."
He added, "The plan includes removing hundreds of thousands of tons of mud deposits from the facades of berths and navigation channels, with the aim of reaching the design depths of the berths, ensuring the safe passage of tankers and large ships carrying various payloads, and preventing obstacles during anchoring operations.
     and take off.”
