Yesterday, Saturday, the National Oil Company, the second largest producer and exporter of crude oil in OPEC, began providing logistical support for the implementation of a "plan" for oil and gas exploration in the territorial waters of Iraq.
Director of the Basra Oil Company, Khaled Hamza, said: We support the exploration efforts in the offshore patch in our territorial waters within a recently approved plan to implement projects to invest hydrocarbon wealth in the offshore areas, indicating that he discussed implementation mechanisms with the Oil Exploration Company and other parties.
He added that despite the difficulty of providing financial costs and offshore drilling rigs, we started coordinating with subcontractors with experience in offshore drilling operations for logistical support.
Regarding the average production capacity of the Basra Company, Hamza explained that it amounted to more than “3” million barrels per day, while the export rate reached about 3,250 million barrels per day, through Basra oil ports, adding that the export rate is subject to the extent to which it is affected by weather fluctuations in the northern Arabian Gulf.
