[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The House of Representatives held its eleventh session, headed by Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, Acting Speaker of the Council, and in the presence of 175 deputies today, to vote and read a number of law proposals.
The Parliament’s Media Department stated: “The Council voted at the beginning of the session on the draft law amending the law on Iraq’s accession to the International Convention on Load Lines of 1966 and its amending Protocol of 1988 amended in 2003 No. (14) of 2020, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee, in order to Commitment to the unified principles and rules regarding loading limits for ships operating on international voyages and to protect life and property at sea and for the Republic of Iraq to join the Convention.”
The Council completed the first reading of the proposed law on the first amendment to the Law on the Foundations of Equivalence of Arab and Foreign Academic Certificates and Degrees No. (20) of 2020 submitted by the Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee, in order to preserve scientific sobriety and ensure that Iraqi students obtain a solid scientific certificate from accredited universities to contribute to building... The development of Iraqi society, and the focus on the specific specializations that the country needs.
In another matter, Al-Mandalawi directed that a lawsuit be filed against Al-Mirbad Channel, which broadcasts the comedy program that harmed the reputation of the House of Representatives, stressing the right of the House to file a lawsuit against any party that offends the legislative authority.
The Council then completed, during the session, part of which was chaired by Shakhwan Abdullah, Vice-President of the Council, the first reading of the proposed law amending the Legal Profession Law No. (173) of 1965 submitted by the Legal and Labor Committees and civil society organizations to keep pace with developments that have occurred in society and the legal profession and to develop the activity of the Bar Association. And to establish more precise and clear controls for who belongs to it, and to establish a law institute to raise the efficiency of lawyers and enhance their legal culture, develop their skills and prepare lawyers capable of carrying out the burdens of the legal profession, and to increase the immunity of lawyers while performing the work of their profession, and to remove the conflict between the provisions of the law and add some new provisions related to companies. On the other hand, Abdullah directed that the Minister of Education be hosted in the Parliamentary Education Committee in order to provide clarification regarding the ministry’s decision to close education representations in the Kurdistan region.
While the Council postponed the first reading of the Iraqi Programmers Syndicate law proposal submitted by the Labor Committee and civil society organizations.
Parliament then decided to adjourn the session until tomorrow, Wednesday./End 7[/rtl]
