The spokeswoman for the Israeli Prisons Service Hannah Herbst, said that "Ehud Olmert 's first former prime minister in Israel 's history lies behind bars, was taken to hospital after a medical examination," according to Israeli media and global.
It complains Olmert (aged 71 years) , who must spend 27 months behind bars because of corruption, chest pain, according to Israeli media reports.
This comes at a time when Olmert is waiting for a judicial decision expected next Thursday on whether the duration of his trial will be, it has delayed the decision, which was supposed to come earlier, after police raided the publishing house plans to publish his memoirs.
The Israeli Attorney General 's Office, in a statement, said that the police are investigating whether Olmert has touched on sensitive information about national security in the forthcoming memoir, by imprisonment, according to the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth Israeli on its website.
Olmert, who served as prime minister from 2006 to 2009, has entered Macaho prison to the south - east of Tel Aviv in February 2016 against the backdrop of accepting bribes and obstruction of justice.
