[rtl]"The volume of wheat production for the current season amounted to three million tons, including the production of the Kurdistan region, which was marketed for the Ministry of Commerce, " Undersecretary of Agriculture Mahdi Mahdi al-Qaisi said .[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Qaisi said in a statement obtained by Trend Press on Monday that wheat production will increase in the coming season, especially after the northern province of Nineveh entered the agricultural plan after it was completely liberated .[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "the Ministry of Agriculture will launch its agricultural plan for the next agricultural season in the coming days after consultation with the Ministry of Water Resources ."[/rtl]
[rtl]Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture expected to produce 3.75 million tons of wheat .[/rtl]
[rtl]Iraq needs about 4.5 tons of wheat .[/rtl]
[rtl]In 2010, Iraq launched a national wheat development project implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture. It is based on the production of wheat seeds resistant to salinity and drought, which are highly productive and disease-resistant .[/rtl]
[rtl]Iraq was represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, announced in 2015 its intention to achieve self-sufficiency of the wheat crop within two years .[/rtl]
