The spread of corruption and the lack of supervision stop the work of the ports of Safwan and Shalamjah.

Six years after the transfer of the Ministry of the Interior at a cost of 86 billion dinars, the work of the ports of Safwan and Shalamjah ceased due to corruption and lack of supervision.

The Basra Council revealed the suspension of most of the projects of the ministries in the province because of the transfer of companies lagging and lack of control as well as the lack of any feasibility study of these projects.

The council explained that the two projects of the Safwan and Shalamjah implementers in Basra were removed from the Ministry of the Interior with a value of 50 billion dinars to the port of Safwan and 36 billion to the port of Shalamjah, "but the projects have not been completed and stopped work, despite the passage of six years of their launch.

The Council stressed that the corruption and lack of supervision behind the suspension of the projects, indicating that they are one of the most unsuccessful projects referred by the ministries as well as the draft pipes Qibla.
