    The Ministry of Planning confirmed the arrival of a Turkish delegation to Baghdad to discuss the implementation of projects related to the loan approved by the Kuwait Conference for the reconstruction of Iraq, which was held last February, calling on Ankara to exploit the investment opportunities available in its territory, especially in areas affected by military operations. 

    The ministry said in a press statement that "Iraq and Turkey discussed mechanisms to implement investment projects to be financed by a Turkish loan to Iraq, in the framework of pledges made by the States participating in the Kuwait Conference held in February."

    The statement quoted Minister of Planning Salman Jumaili as saying that "Iraq expects from Turkey a significant contribution to the reconstruction of liberated areas through the implementation of investment projects and services, funded by the Turkish investment loan of $ 5 billion, as well as the Turkish grant of $ 50 million," and expressed thanks For "the position of the Turks supporting Iraq, both in the stage of liberation or in the subsequent phase of reconstruction." 

    In a related development, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alak said during his meeting with the Turkish delegation that "the Turkish contribution to the Kuwait conference was the most prominent among the participating countries." 

    "Turkish friends are serious about following up and implementing their commitments to Iraq, which we will benefit from implementing important strategic projects in the affected provinces, especially in the areas of housing, transportation, health and education."

    He explained that "the coming days will see the arrival of delegations from the group of countries that gave Iraq financial pledges during the Kuwait conference," pointing out that there is "great seriousness by Iraq and donor countries to activate these commitments and turn them into existing projects." 

    The head of the Turkish delegation, Goreman, expressed the readiness of his government to "provide all kinds of support to Baghdad, especially in the implementation of investment projects in the liberated areas funded by the loan of $ 5 billion to support investment in Iraq." 

    Gorman stressed that the Turkish companies can rehabilitate the Kirkuk and Mosul airports because of these economic importance.

    He added that "Turkey seeks to raise the level of trade, economic and political relations with Iraq to advanced levels, consistent with the interrelationship of the common interests between the two countries and work to rehabilitate and develop the common border ports and rehabilitate the road between Baghdad and the port of Vishkhabor 470 km, which is of great importance in the development of trade Between the two countries, in addition to the support it provides for economic life in the areas through which it passes. "
