The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani, arrived Monday in the capital Baghdad on an undeclared visit.
Barzani met with the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Fouad Hussein, Prime Minister Haider Abadi.
"The meeting discussed the political and public situation in the country and discussed a number of joint files between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to achieve the unity and interest of Iraq," a statement from the office of Abadi said.
He also stressed the importance of communication and exchange of dialogue in order to promote joint national action, after concerted efforts to achieve victory over terrorist gangs and cooperation between the various security forces and the Peshmerga, and the importance of maintaining this cooperation to eliminate any danger from Iraq.
The statement pointed out that "the meeting witnessed convergence of views on addressing the challenges facing the country, the next stage and move forward to form the next government to achieve the demands of the Iraqi people in support of the economy and reconstruction and provide services and create jobs."
