    Minister of Finance discusses with Turkey the acceleration of the adoption of the agreement to avoid double taxation between the two countries
    Independent) ... Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Fuad Hussein in Baghdad discussed with Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Fatih Yildiz the development of economic cooperation between the two countries.
    "Hussein stressed the need to strengthen and develop the relationship with Iraq's friends," a ministry statement said. "Turkey is a neighbor country with significant economic potential."
    The Turkish ambassador said the Turkish companies are working seriously in Iraq and that they are interested in the quality of the product and that the Iraqi market trusts the Turkish goods. "He pointed out at the same time the need to facilitate the process of trade exchange and the movement of goods and commodities and ease customs and tax restrictions in order to expand the prospects of trade between the two countries.
    The two sides also discussed speeding up the ratification of the agreement to avoid double taxation between the two countries after some minor amendments thereto.
    Yildiz noted Turkey's interest in participating in the reconstruction of Iraq through a $ 5 billion grant along with soft loans.
    He added that the Turkish side sent a committee on its part to stand on the priorities of the Iraqi government.
    He pointed out that attention to irrigation and water projects and the construction of small dams in various areas of Iraq is considered from the point of view of priorities because of its importance in preserving the water wealth and storage for use when needed and avoid not waste and that the construction of dams will contribute to the production of electric power as well as the development of Fisheries, tourism, environmental improvement and agriculture. (End)
