The Market Research and Consumer Protection Center organized the tagged workshop (effects of industrial and commercial fraud in the Iraqi market and consumer) in cooperation with the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control and Unilever International.
In his speech, Assistant Professor Dr. Yahya Kamal Khalil explained the importance of the workshop and the role of the center in raising a topic that affects the life of the citizen from the health and economic side, namely industrial and commercial fraud and its consequences and serious effects on the Iraqi market and consumer.
The workshop was attended by representatives from the Central Authority for Standardization and Quality Control, unilever international company, dean of the Faculty of Science, representatives from the departments of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals and state institutions, professors and university affiliates.
Baghdad.

Censorship and manipulation
"Today we live in a state of spread of goods and goods of different sources and origins in the local markets and are accessible to individuals with weak control over fraud, manipulation, imitation of brands and lack of consumer awareness among many and being dragged behind the attractive offers of adulterated goods," Khalil added.
He stressed the need for "concerted efforts between state institutions and cooperating entities in developing realistic recommendations to reach what serves the society, and to reach a sound environment to protect the Iraqi consumer from industrial and commercial fraud and spread cultural and consumer awareness for all segments."

Market products
"This seminar is to demonstrate the effects of industrial and commercial fraud on goods and products offered in the local market acquired by The Iraqi consumer and the consequent damage in various areas, including primarily economic and health," Khalil said.
"This weighs on the consumer budget to avoid such damage, and it reflects on its legitimate rights, which were approved by the United Nations in 1985 and thus weakens its role in building society," he said.
Three topics were discussed at the workshop: "The reality of industrial and commercial fraud in the local market, as well as the economic, health and psychological damage caused by industrial and commercial fraud, and the ambition to reduce industrial and commercial fraud".

Discussion and recommendations
The working papers on industrial and commercial fraud and its negative impact on the consumer and the country's economies, the activities of unilever's trademark protection department in Iraq to protect Iraqi consumers from fraud and counterfeiting, as well as the role of the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control in reducing industrial and commercial fraud, were then discussed.
After discussing lectures and exchanging views on the risks of commercial and industrial cheating of products and their economic and health impacts in the local and human markets, the symposium came up with recommendations calling for action to get rid of these situations through concerted efforts by the competent authorities, monitoring products in local markets, developing scientific and practical studies that monitor these phenomena, develop solutions to the problem and make proposals that will reduce fraud in all its forms, and hold educational workshops and seminars that spread consumer awareness among citizens.
