Deputy: The government handed parliament a "worn-out" copy of the budget and its authors have no knowledge of the economy

On Tuesday, Iraqi parliament member Naeem al-Kaoud said that the obstruction of the budget approval was the result of the government's submission to the parliamentary finance committee, while noting that the government had provided a "worn-out" version of the budget law, and pointed out that those who drafted the clauses were far from the country's economic and financial affairs.

"After receiving the budget law from the government, the Finance Committee and the presidency of parliament held more than 50 meetings each, each at least 10 hours, in order to amend the budget items," al-Kaoud, a deputy from Anbar province, told Shafq News.

"The most important thing that has been amended is the compensation file, to which the government has allocated 15 billion dinars, and the amount was raised to 250 billion dinars, and at least 400 billion were supposed to be allocated," he said.

"The budget was calculated when it came from the government at the expense of the dollar exchange rate of 142, which was 91 trillion, and the dollar was reduced to 101 trillion dinars," al-Kaoud said.

"Although the budget reached the voting stage after this trouble, the Kurdish component also objected to some of the items, which generated disagreements within parliament, which led to the postponement of its adoption again, and had it not been for the Nuroz holidays it would have been approved before the date set for next Saturday," he said.

"The budget will not meet the needs of citizens, especially since it is devoid of functional grades and many other files that millions of citizens are waiting for, due to the fall in oil prices in the past, in addition to the Corona virus, which has stopped all world markets, and despite the world's overcoming this crisis, Iraq is still suffering, because it lacks economic statesmen," he said.

"The problem of the salaries of electricity contracts and wages, and the lecturers, has been solved, but their contracts from the army, police and many other segments have not been allocated any funds to solve their problems, because of the weak budget," he said.

"Sufficient funds have been allocated to the Electoral Commission for early elections, and funds have been allocated to the families of the missed and the displacement file has been closed across the country," he said.
