The head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar Al-Waeli, stressed, on Monday, the necessity of the departments' commitment to the government plan and the application of the electronic program to complete customs transactions at all ports.
A statement by the authority, received by the "National News Center", stated that "Al-Waeli chaired the eleventh meeting of the work team of the electronic automation project for customs and border crossings, which was held at the authority's headquarters via closed circuit television."
He added that "the agenda was discussed in the meeting, which included clarification on the (ESCWA) program to automate customs procedures and the possibility of linking programs with departments operating at border crossings to ensure data sharing and benefit from the program's outputs, as well as the possibility of networking sonar devices and receiving the results of their work by those working on them from Customs centers.
Al-Waeli stressed the need for the departments operating at the border crossings to abide by the directives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and what was included in the Diwani Order 22 of 2020, which set a comprehensive government strategy for managing institutions using digital transformation in accomplishing their tasks entrusted to them, as well as working with the recommendations of the aforementioned committee and urging all border crossings to implement The electronic program prepared by the Ports Authority to complete customs transactions at all ports,” noting “the need to adhere to information security standards and not to leak government data when applying electronic programs while ensuring the integration of software systems and databases.”
