Mladenov welcomes asking al-Abadi for prime minister, and calls for Iraqi forces to refrain from interfering with the transmission of power.

BAGHDAD / NINA / The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Nikolay Mladenov welcomed on Monday asking Haider al-Abadi, to head the new Cabinet, urging the need for swift formation of an inclusive government.
He said in a statement today that the President of the Republic Fuad Masum, fulfilled his role in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and asked the candidate of the largest political bloc to form a government, and this step is in line with the Constitution and the democratic political process.
He added that the important thing now is for all the political groups in the Parliament to cooperate in the formation of an inclusive government reflects the wishes of the Iraqi people to achieve security, prosperity and democracy.
Mladenov urged all political leaders to "work within the framework of the Constitution and show moderation in their statements and actions," stressing the need to "refrain the Iraqi security forces of actions that can be perceived as interference in matters relating to democratic transition of political power.
