Shafaq News/ Today, Wednesday, Maysan MP Raed Al-Maliki counted the distribution of low-cost homes for poor families in the governorate as a treatment for the issue of housing "excesses", while he indicated that the recent cabinet decision in this regard prevented "raising their prices" and depriving the poor of them.
Representative Raed Al-Maliki told Shafaq News Agency, "The number of low-cost houses in Maysan does not exceed a thousand houses, and they are ready for distribution," noting that "these houses, according to the law of selling and renting state funds, enter through public auction, and if the auction takes place, prices will rise, and therefore The poor will not get it."
The deputy from Maysan Governorate added, "Therefore, the Council of Ministers decided to exclude this role from the auction procedures, and therefore the sale will be directly to them, without the entry of bidders that lead to raising prices."
Al-Maliki pointed out, "The Maysan Governorate, in turn, will estimate the price of the house, taking into account the situation of poor families, and we hope that the amount will be small and symbolic so that it is possible to pay it and perhaps pay it in installments."
The member of the House of Representatives stressed, "The number of poor families in Maysan Governorate is very large, and there are those who live in abuses and slums, and in the event that these housing units are distributed, the abuses will be addressed, and we hope to address all slums and cases of abuse by granting or providing housing or a plot of land for its residents." ".
The MP continued, "We have a draft law in Parliament to address cases of abuse and slums, and we hope to legislate it during this session," noting that "the abuses on lands designated for non-residential services, squares and public streets, these are destined to be removed after providing an alternative to the citizen."
Al-Maliki continued, "But the slums that are in agricultural and other areas, these can be converted into residential areas according to modern designs that have expansions, and these will be dealt with by law in order to be classified as residential land officially."
And the Council of Ministers decided, in its last session, which was held yesterday, Tuesday, “to approve the sale of low-cost homes allocated to poor and needy families in the Maysan governorate, as an exception to the public auction procedures, and that the sale be at the real price, taking into account the provisions of the legislative resolution (120 of 1980).” Pointing out that this comes "based on the provisions of Article (40) of the Amended Law of Sale and Lease of State Funds (21 of 2013)."
