    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

A few days after the Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdel-Ghani, announced the ministry’s efforts to raise the refining capacity of the central refineries to 500,000 barrels per day, Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani visited the Diwaniyah refinery, “Al-Shinafiya,” announcing the start of work to expand the refinery and raise its refining capacity to 90,000 barrels per day.

The refining capacity of the middle refineries totals 360,000 barrels per day, and raising it to 500,000 barrels requires adding 140,000 barrels per day.
On the other hand, al-Sudani said that the refining capacity of the Shinafiyah refinery will be raised from 20 to 90 thousand barrels per day, that is, by adding 70 thousand barrels per day, which means that half of the expansion of the middle refineries, amounting to an additional 140 thousand barrels, will be achieved from the Diwaniyah refinery alone.

Al-Sudani said, "This increase will contribute to reducing the import of gasoline and gas oil, and providing surplus quantities of liquid gas and fuel oil products, which have a large economic return. The project will also provide up to three thousand job opportunities, to employ local labor."
While Al-Sudani described these products with the same great returns, he revealed that the sums that will be allocated for the expansion of the refinery will amount to 675 million dollars.

From here, the “Yess Iraq” platform starts, to calculate the feasibility of the project and the time to recover the cost according to the products that will be produced by the refinery and their prices, especially since gasoline and kerosene are imported by Iraq, and with the opening of the Karbala refinery and the expansion of the Diwaniyah refinery, the need for import will actually disappear.

Refining an additional 70,000 barrels of oil per day will produce 4.9 million liters of gasoline, with a financial return value of about $3.9 million, in addition to producing 2.6 million liters of oil, with a financial value of $1.5 million per day, in addition to 420,000 A liter of fuel oil and the same amount of liquid gas, with a financial value of about $500,000 per day for both products.
This means that products with a financial return of 8.5 million dollars are produced daily, and more than 5 million dollars are extracted, including the cost of crude oil and operation, so that the total profits of the refinery do not exceed 3 million dollars.
Within 225 days, or approximately 8 months, the cost of $675 million to expand the refinery will be recovered.
