Baghdad / Obelisk: A member of the Parliamentary Oil and Energy Committee, Ali Saadoun Al-Lami, warned, on Sunday, the Iraqi Oil Ministry against continuing to grant rounds of oil licenses to foreign companies.
Al-Lami said in a press statement, "The Iraqi government signed a contract with these companies at an amount of (76) billion dollars, in exchange for 10 million barrels, within 7 years."
He pointed out that “the production of these companies amounts to 3 and a half million barrels over 13 years, that is, it did not reach half of the amount of production contracted with these companies and exceeded the legal period.”
Al-Lami stressed, “The need for the Ministry of Oil to work on developing Iraqi drilling companies, instead of spending this large sum on foreign companies.”
