On Sunday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee announced the completion of its report on the general budget law.
The committee said, in a statement received by "Al-Eqtisad News", that it "held its meeting yesterday, Saturday 4/15/2023, to discuss the final report that it prepared regarding the Federal General Budget Law for the years 2023-2024-2025, and the attached tables, confirm all its observations on it and issue its recommendations, in preparation for To present it to the House of Representatives and read it during the second reading of the law.
During its meeting, according to the statement, the committee discussed "the total expected revenues that supply the budget and what are the expectations regarding the estimation of oil and non-oil revenues, as well as governing expenditures and public debt, in order to reduce the financial deficit occurring between savings and spending, and to take appropriate decisions related to loans, organizing taxes and enhancing Economic and financial resources, to reach the set goals.
The committee stated, "The budget included the most important sectors targeted by distributing spending among public investments and basic services such as health, education, social protection, and electric power, as well as supporting the private sector and establishing development projects, and facing challenges to eliminate unemployment."
And the statement continued, "The committee had met earlier with the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, and the concerned authorities, to discuss a number of aspects related to the law, the most important of which are maximizing revenues, squeezing expenditures, and spending doors according to spending units, to come out with a unified vision that meets all the requirements of citizens, and achieve integration between The vision of the Council and the government in the implementation of projects.
And she indicated that she "decided to submit the report to the Presidency of the Council for reading during the next Parliament session."
Earlier, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi confirmed that today's session, Sunday, will be devoted to the second reading of the budget bill.
