    The Ministry of Transport set, on Wednesday, the cost of constructing the railways and land transport lines within the Development Road project, and indicated that they will be implemented by international companies and with the latest technologies, and indicated that the trains in it will be At two speeds for passengers and for transporting goods.
    "The development road project will be an economic lung for Iraq, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Transport have taken upon themselves the implementation of this project and are following its details around the clock," said Director General of the Iraqi Railways affiliated to the Ministry, Younis Al-Kaabi.
    He added, “The project starts from the large port of Faw in Basra and runs towards the north of the country, reaching the Iraqi-Turkish borders, and from there to Turkey and Europe, which gives a great flow in the transportation of goods and passengers like.”
    He continued, "The project includes the implementation of a railway line extending 1,200 km from Al-Faw to the Fishkhabur area on the border with Turkey, and it will be a double line in which trains will operate with electricity, and in parallel there will be a highway for trucks of the same length."
    He pointed out that "the implementation of the project requires high technologies and extends to 2028, and it will be implemented by international companies, and the trains will have a speed of 300 km for transporting passengers and 150 km for transporting goods," noting that "The estimated costs of the railway line, according to studies, require 10.5 billion dollars, while the land transport route will be within limits." 6 billion dollars.
    Earlier, the media office of the Ministry of Transport confirmed in a statement to the Iraqi News Agency that "the development road will start from the port of Faw, passing through about 12 Iraqi governorates, up to the Turkish border, and all the way to the European continent, to be a link between east and west.”
    He pointed out that "the ministry is studying special designs for a railway line from the port of Faw to Turkey, where it is linked to the European network, and it is a line for transporting goods and transporting passengers, and it works with electric power." according to the latest European regulations.
    And he indicated that "there is a railway link for transporting passengers only between Iraq and Iran based on a bilateral agreement, and it will be used, especially during the period of one million visits to Iraq." ended 25 n
