The Ministry of Interior: Signing a “document of honor” with the clans to limit uncontrolled weapons

Representatives and specialists believe that the decision of the Minister of Interior to hand over uncontrolled weapons to the state with the support of the clans will help preserve civil peace and respect for the law in society.
A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Yasser Iskandar, said: "The decision is bold and appropriate, and it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior."
Wetout added, in an interview with "Al-Sabah," that his committee "supports the decision of the Minister of Interior, and he is supposed to hand over weapons to the state because we are a state of institutions, and the law is familiar with the issue of clans and criminal problems."
In turn, the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Major General Khaled Al-Muhanna, said, "The challenges facing society, including clan conflicts and the use of weapons in conflicts, stem from the backgrounds of inherited cultures regarding revenge and clan strife," noting that the ministry "has developed a strategy to combat these phenomena, including confronting these cases with all severity and rigor." Referring those arrested to the judiciary, and any person using weapons who commits a crime, threatens or shoots in what is known as the clan bombs.
Al-Muhanna added, to "Al-Sabah", that "the ministry decided to launch educational programs for the sons of the clans through agreement with the notables and sheikhs of the tribes and in a number of meetings and conferences attended by representatives of the clans to sign a memorandum of understanding to set many red lines that must not be breached," explaining that "The red lines are not threatening public servants, not threatening investment companies, not firing random shots, not defending or harboring people who commit crimes, and many of the issues identified by the Ministry of Interior in coordination with the clans." Sheikh Mohammad Reda believes that "the call of the Minister of Interior to disarm is a call that stems from the belief in the need to hand over the weapons of clans because most of their members belong to security and partisan agencies," pointing out that "the bearers of this official weapon consider themselves immune and can overcome the security barriers with their official capacities according to the law." .
Reda indicated, in an interview with "Al-Sabah", that "many clans are not convinced to hand over weapons to the state, because most of them consider weapons as a source of strength and control, and it is an issue related to ignorance and weakness of the law."
