Yesterday, Friday, the Ministry of Communications revealed a plan to provide citizens directly with Internet service, without intermediaries.
A statement by the ministry stated, "The Minister of Communications, Hayam al-Yasiri, discussed with representatives of the international (space x) company, a project to provide Internet service via space, during a meeting that took place remotely (video conference) in the presence of the advanced technical staff in the ministry and its formations." He added, "During the meeting, listening took place. To an explanatory explanation from the company about the project, while Al-Yasiri discussed with the company a number of important issues, foremost of which is the security aspect, stressing the need for project management, control and control to be exclusively in the hands of the Ministry. The Internet and its speed, which were determined in detail with the company providing the service,” noting that “the ministry prefers direct selling to citizens and moving away from the intermediary system.”The statement indicated that "it was reached with the aforementioned company the possibility of reducing the prices of the system that the user purchases and the subscription price to a large extent compared to their prices in other countries that launched the service, in addition to the ease of acquisition and the speed of its access to the citizen shortly after the request." The company expressed their desire to cooperate with the Ministry and contract with it in this field, and it was agreed to hold a physical meeting with officials in the Ministry to discuss the exact details of the project.
