Adviser to the Prime Minister for Transportation Affairs, Nasser Al-Asadi, revealed that a study was being prepared to add a group of lines that serve 80 percent of the regions in the capital, Baghdad, as part of the suspended train project.
Al-Asadi said in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "The suspended train project is now in the process of negotiation with the investor who will carry out its implementation and design process," noting that "there is a study to add a group of lines that serve 80 percent of the areas in the capital, Baghdad, as a train movement, It will reduce the heavy traffic on the streets, support the culture of public transport, and contribute to resolving the crises on the street, in addition to the projects that were previously approved to solve bottlenecks and congestion.” He added, "The committees are currently studying the time it will take to implement this project, the specifications, and calculating the financial costs by relying on the most recent specifications, in order to serve the citizen."
For his part, economic researcher Dr. Ali Dadoush considered, "The suspended train is one of the important projects that will have a role in relieving traffic jams, especially with the increasing number of cars and the poor maintenance, development and expansion of the main streets in the capital." He added, "It is necessary to find the best possible ways to implement this project and to submit bids or feasibility studies to more than one investor," suggesting that "the matter be according to comprehensive economic feasibility studies presented to a specialized international company, as it will be one of the landmarks of the capital and must be in line with urban developments." occurring in developed countries. Dadoush stressed "the need for the executing company to be obligated to complete the project until it sees the light and transfers individuals in general, and it is preferable to put clauses in the contract that include large fines for the company in the event that it tries not to complete the project or intends to sell it to another company to prevent this project from joining the project." The rest of the projects have not been completed yet.
