Yesterday, Saturday, the Ministry of Water Resources urged the establishment of water harvesting dams to benefit from rainwater, remove abuses, and provide the best services to citizens.
The ministry stated, in a statement, that “the General Authority for Operating Irrigation and Drainage Projects held an expanded technical coordination meeting, in the presence of the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Dhiab Abdullah, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water and Marshes Committee, Representative Faleh Al-Khazali, the Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry, and a number of general directors and resource managers in general.” Governorates.
She added, “During the meeting, the irrigation reality, the challenges facing this reality, and the proposed solutions to the confrontation were reviewed, in order to share the damage and ensure the delivery of water to everyone,” indicating, “The Minister of Resources confirmed during the meeting that the presence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Agriculture, Water, and Marshes Committee represents support.” He is a great supporter of the Ministry’s work, praising his field presence in all governorates to support the Ministry’s cadres working there.”
Dhiyab explained, according to the statement, that “the ministry’s current work is to provide the best service to citizens,” stressing “the use of modern technologies throughout this sector, including adopting concrete quilting technology to reduce water losses, ensure optimal use of water, and reduce abuses.” Ensuring the rapid flow of water in the river section, and emphasizing the necessity of the ministry’s staff to cooperate with local governments in the governorates with all flexibility.”
The statement indicated, “Representative Al-Khazali discussed the work of rehabilitating the Al-Badaa Canal for the critical area, using the concrete quilt technique, removing violations, emphasizing the establishment of water harvesting dams to benefit from rainwater, and activating the role of water user associations for participatory irrigation,” pointing out that “the distribution of water was discussed.” Water resources, eliminating abuses in all governorates, challenges facing the Ministry’s staff working in the governorates, problems and obstacles, through water resources managers.”
Al-Khazali stressed, according to the statement, the necessity of “developing quick and effective solutions in order to develop the reality of water resources in these governorates.” The statement continued, "The most important projects planned to be undertaken this year and the following years were discussed, according to the Ministry's financial allocations, in order to provide the best services to citizens in the water resources sector."
